I want some birthday cake too !!!

Yesterday i went out with the design team at my company. The people next to us at the restaurant were having some birthday party. So when they sang happy birthday, I sang with them and that was it … Not so! A big cake came along and my eyes were locked on it. I told my friend Saisho san that I should draw a portrait of the birthday person in exchange of a piece of cake. However, I also told my friend I didn’t have enough guts to do so … But slowly, helped by my friend I stood up and moved toward the table next to us … I was told I was crazy, I was blocked … But I went … Saisho san helped me again to explain the situation, and the people accepted … As it was the birthday of two people … we took the last two remaining piece of ice cream cake and I started to draw the two portraits (while my friends started to eat the cake !!!).

These sketches should have been online 2 weeks ago … But as I said in my previous post, I felt no power to put them online before … Luckily, I kept sketching on my sketchpad all this time …

Oh yes, a word to say that most of the sketches are from other sources, whether a photo book, Manga illustrations, adverts, or people in places I happen to be …

A final word to say that I have stopped to allow comments on this blog as the spamming was getting annoying … I will try to find a solution later …

Here is a portrait I made while I was eating with some friends in a small pub in Shibuya … I kept saying I was not happy to do it … A bit because I was shy to sketch live for someone like that … I bit because I thought it would look like hell, etc … But in fact I was dead happy to move my ass and just do it © Nike !!! Yeaaaaah … Today I post the page 100 of my sketchbook … At the time I am writting those few lines, I have 16 pages left before It is finished … Go go go !!!

Starting from the following, I have been trying to fill up every cm2 of each pages … I just love it !!!
